Where has the time gone? Just 2.5 decades ago, we were blinking our eyes open for the first time, emerging into a brave new world of slap bracelets, Tamagotchis, and dial-up internet. We’ve grown a lot since then - spiritually and technologically - and our frisbee skills have gotten pretty good. It’s time for these DC area 90s babies to take the next logical step: the holy sacrament of baptism in the church of Windmill Windup. We are prepared for [tournament director Jurre Buiting] to dip us into an Amsterdam canal, which we assume is part of the process. We understand that by attending Windmill, our old selves will die, and we will emerge as new people with better taste and more appreciation for social services.
Born in 2017, the team was formed around a vision of increasing the visibility of mixed ultimate in Washington DC. The team’s first steps were taken at an overnight tournament where we won our first championship; we have since competed in other various indoor tournaments and USAU Beach Nationals. In 2024, and with our mother Jenny Fey still selflessly imparting her wisdom on us, the 90s Babies are now a dynamic blend of elite and high-spirited players who have excelled on the world stage and successfully contributed to the sport's global tapestry through participation, coaching, and community engagement.
